All rural households in the State will be provided with functional house hold drinking water connections by 2024 through Jal Jeevan Mission. Hon.Chief Minister, Shri. Pinarayi Viajayan inaugurated the state level construction works on 8th of October 2020 through video conference. Chief Minister said “the state is targeted to provide functional drinking water connections to 21.42 households this financial year itself”. The state Government has ensured priority to the SC/ST colonies in getting benefits in the initial phase itself. The Government has ensured the transparency of the progress of scheme implementation to public through websites.  Kerala Water Authority {KWA} and Kerala Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency {Jalanidhi} are the key implementation agencies to support Local Self Government Institutions in this regard.

Hon. Minister for Water Resources, Sri.K.Krishnankutty presided the function said that JJM will be a turning point in the water supply sector of the State. It is targeted to give 49.65 lakh household water connections under this programme. Hon. Minister for Local Self Government Shri.A.C.Moideen has addressed the audience as chief guest and ensured all support from the Grama Panchayaths and LSGD for achieving the goal of all households with drinking water. Managing Director, KWA welcomed the august gathering.  Secretary WRD and Executive Director Jalanidhi also offer felicitations. 

In Continuation to the State Level Inaugural Programme, District level inaugural programmes were held by Hon. Ministers and Hon. Speaker of Legislative Assembly in various locations of the state.
